Shipment of the Waves Inc. WSG-Y16 SoundGrid interface card that allows Waves plug-ins to be used with Yamaha digital mixers is scheduled to begin on May 1st.

Shizuoka, Japan (May 1st, 2010) – The comprehensive lineup of high-performance plug-in effects from Waves Inc. is increasingly becoming a staple processing resource for high-resolution sound recording and editing. Now they’re ready for use with Yamaha digital mixers via Waves’ newly developed SoundGrid system, using a standard personal computer as the effect-processing server. By using a dedicated server it becomes possible to run multiple effects simultaneously with extremely low latency.

The WSG-Y16 card plugs into the MY card slot of a compatible Yamaha mixer, and connects to the SoundGrid server via a CAT5 Ethernet cable, allowing Waves plug-ins to be used alongside the mixer’s internal effects. The WSG-Y16 can be used with the Yamaha M7CL, LS9, PM5D, DSP5D, 02R96VCM, 01V96VCM, DM2000VCM, DM1000VCM, DME64N, and DME24N. Each card provides up to 16 channels of simultaneous processing at 44.1/48 kHz, or 8 channels at 88.2/96 kHz. The system also allows MIDI input for scene recall linked to the mixer.
